Miss Fernandez-Diaz graduated in the Complutense University in Madrid and moved to the UK in 1994 where she underwent thorough training in all aspects of General, Emergency and Vascular Surgery for over 10 years, before sub specialising in Transplantation.
She holds a Master in Surgical Science by Imperial College and a Master in Health Policy, Planning and Financing by the London School of Economics. She also has a Diploma in Laparoscopic Surgery by the University of Strasbourg.
She obtained her CCT in 2009 and worked since as a Consultant in Transplant and Vascular Access Surgery in London until 2017. In 2017, following a desire to change for a career that would be compatible and allow for her passion in humanitarian work, she now works as a General Emergency Surgeon in the NHS and goes abroad to do NGO work in her free time.
