eXroid electrotherapy
An effective alternative to traditional
haemorrhoid treatments

We wanted to tell you all about eXroid, and why we have brought electrotherapy as a treatment for haemorrhoids to the UK.

Previously known as Ultroid UK, eXroid has been helping thousands of haemorrhoid sufferers for years. With some of our patients kindly sharing their experience of the eXroid electrotherapy treatment by writing in to us to tell us their stories, we take pride in the fact that we have helped change so many people’s lives.

Talking about haemorrhoids can be very difficult and we appreciate it can be a sensitive matter. Our experienced haemorrhoid advisers are on hand to help you decide whether you require a consultation with one of our doctors and possibly a treatment. Our staff are always very discreet and will do their very best to help you decide upon the best care option for you.

Experts in safe, effective and gentle treatment of piles

Electrotherapy is a fast, effective and safe treatment for piles which has recently introduced to the UK by eXroid. NICE has published constructive guidance regarding electrotherapy treatment and the most recently reported figures show that 155,000 treatments have already been carried out, safely, worldwide. Here at eXroid, we want to share this cost-effective, convenient treatment with as many sufferers as possible.

The majority of eXroid patients say that this straightforward procedure incurs minimal or no discomfort. A gentle current is applied to the base of each haemorrhoid for up to ten minutes and during treatment the piles shrink, and if not completely gone, they can continue to shrink for up to 4 weeks or more following treatment.

Sedation and anaesthetic are not required and there’s no mandatory recovery time (not even one day). Most patients who’ve shared their experience with us say they are able to walk straight out of the clinic and return immediately to their normal activities.

Learn more about how electrotherapy compares to other treatments. Electrotherapy is one of the gentlest treatments available for piles – It causes minimal or no discomfort,  has an excellent safety record and is as effective as other procedures or operations. Half of patients are cleared of their piles by one treatment, and 80% by two.

What the experts say about eXroid electrotherapy treatment

Mr Paul Mackey Consultant Colorectal Surgeon

“I have now had the opportunity to treat over 100 patients suffering with haemorrhoids with the eXroid electrotherapy treatment. Admittedly I was somewhat sceptical as to what could realistically be achieved by such a relatively straightforward and practically painless treatment, but the feedback from patients has been absolutely amazing. We are not far from eXroid becoming universally the first-line treatment for haemorrhoids, and banishing such ineffective treatments such as banding to history”

eXroid COVID-19 Update

Elective treatments suspended for the next 3 weeks
Following the Prime Minister’s national address at 20:30 on Monday 23rd March, it is imperative that we do our utmost to restrict the spread of COVID-19 and safeguard our patients and their communities, our staff and our clinics. Whilst we will always aim to do all we can to help and bring relief to our patients, we are bound by the greater cause to limit this highly infectious virus. We are therefore, as of now, re-scheduling all of our clinics and appointments to over 3 weeks into the future in line with the government guidance.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience and we will speak to everyone of our booked patients individually and do all we can to provide support.

We do, however, understand that there are some extreme cases and where patients feel there is an extreme detriment to their quality of life and / or they are suffering excessive bleeding, we will continue to provide our service on an emergency basis, where possible. This will be preceded by a triage call with myself initially, to ascertain what the issues are and to try to help remotely with a prescription, if possible, in the short term. If you have any concerns please contact us on 0800 999 3777.

We will continue to keep all of our patients directly informed and fully intend to treat everyone as planned, once the current restrictions have been lifted, presently scheduled for after the next three weeks.

The latest information is available at: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-stay-at-home-guidance

Again, if there are any questions or support we can offer, our team will remain working and available to support.

Kind Regards,

Dr Mark J. Hudson-Peacock,
Chairman and Medical Director
