Mr Fayyaz Akbar is an experienced consultant colorectal surgeon based in Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust who has to date performed well over 3000 major and minor surgeries. His areas of expertise include IBD, Crohn’s disease, bowel cancer, gallstone surgery, hernia, proctology, colonoscopy and laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery.
His qualifications include Master of Surgery from University of Edinburgh and Fellowship of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in General Surgery in 2015. His surgical training was in Wales. He has undertaken Fellowships in Pelvic floor surgery, laparoscopic colorectal surgery, and Pelvic surgical oncology. He has been working as consultant general surgeon with special interest in colorectal surgery since 2018.
He enjoys teaching and surgical training. He has an interest in research. He has presented and published on a variety of topics in general surgery and colorectal surgery.
